# Introduction

> Totalis is a request-for-quote venue for Hyperliquid HIP-4 outcome markets: trade one outcome or a parlay of many at a price market makers compete to quote, settled on HyperEVM.

Totalis is a request-for-quote venue for Hyperliquid's HIP-4 outcome markets. You pick one outcome (a
**single**) or several (a **parlay**, one position that pays only if every leg wins). Market makers
compete to quote it, you accept the best price with a wallet signature, and the position lives in the
Totalis vault on HyperEVM until Totalis settles it and pays you. The app is
[hip4.totalis.trade](https://hip4.totalis.trade), where parlays are called Combos.

Everything the app does, the API does: open and cash out positions as a taker, or quote and back them
as a market maker.

## Try it without an account

Market data is public. This call needs no key and no signup:

Market reads and [Get deployment](/hyperliquid/api-reference/deployment/get-deployment) are public. Every account,
trading and maker route needs an API key. Start with the [Quickstart](/hyperliquid/quickstart).

## How it works

    maker sees it at once.

  <Step title="Makers compete">
    Each maker answers with a `payout`: what the position pays if every leg wins. Quotes reach you
    live on the [WebSocket](/hyperliquid/guides/realtime).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Accept and fill">
    Sign the quote you want and [accept it](/hyperliquid/api-reference/quotes/accept-quote). The maker
    confirms within seconds. Totalis puts the trade on-chain and pays the gas.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Settle, or cash out first">
    When the markets resolve, Totalis settles the position and pays a win into your vault balance.
    Nothing to call or sign. To leave early, [cash out](/hyperliquid/guides/trading#cash-out): makers bid
    for the position.

## Both sides of a trade

| 5 | Holds the position. | Backs it from the maker vault. |

Your USDC sits in your Totalis wallet and the vault contract. The vault moves funds only with a
signature from their owner. There is no deposit step and no claim step.
